What does the BanktheFood app do?
The app connects food banks with donors in real-time, showing exactly what items are needed to ensure donations are useful and impactful.
How do I use the app?
Simply download the app, search for your local food bank, and check their real-time list of needed items before you shop.
Does the app cost anything to use?
No, the BanktheFood app is completely free for both donors and food banks.
How does the supermarket alert work?
When you enter a supermarket, the app will use location services to send a notification showing what your local food bank currently needs, making it easy to pick up the right items while you shop. You can edit the frequency of the alerts you receive in the settings on your app.

Can any food charity use the app?
Yes. We work with food banks, food pantries, soup kitchens, baby banks, pet food banks, and any other food poverty charity. If you are a food poverty charity and you think the app will be useful to you, please get in touch.
How do I register my food bank?
Search for your food bank in the app. If listed, request admin access. If not, email us at admin@bankthefood.org with your organisation details. More details can be found here
How can I update my food bank’s needs?
Once registered, food banks can update their drop off locations, food needs, contact details via their admin page on the app.

How can I donate food?
Check the app before shopping, purchase needed items, and drop them off at your local food bank or collection point.
Can I donate money instead?
Yes. Contact you local food bank to find out how you can donate money to them.
